Meanwhile, a decision from Offaly County Council is expected by the end of April on the plans for the development of Ballyteige Solar Farm, a proposed Solar PV Energy development on a 60 hectare site about 5 kilometres west of Tullamore, in the townlands of Ballteige and Colehill, close to Ballinagar.
The proposed developers are Renewable Energy Systems Limited (RES).
The project is expected to run across 16 fields of pasture land will consist of photovoltaic panels mounted on metal frames, new access tracks, underground cabling, perimeter fencing, access gates and 81 CCTV cameras.
According to the planning documents submitted, the panels will not exceed 3 metres in height and will have a non-reflective surface that removes any unwanted reflection or glare. There will be 11 invertors/transformer units to enable connection with the national grid.
